| This summer, what to do, what to think... |
[May. 21st, 2007|11:51 pm] |
Hahaha, it's almost that time of the year again, when gas prices go up as high as the temperatures go, the grills outside are turned up, and the burgers are flipping over as the kids wade through the pool in a time called summer!
For me, of course, that would mean getting some cool treats while the weather is hot, go out and see a good movie, or just chill in my room, with my AC on.
Of course though, this summer won't all be fun and games, I plan to work in the kitchen of a corporate building this summer, and will seriously look into getting into classes at Bunker Hill CC by sometime next year. (CC being Community College, that is. XD)
In the meantime, Chibi Darien and Chibi Shiina from my Big Ten Samurai fanfic saga will tell ya'll about what I think of how this summer will go! Take it you guys!
(The pair walk up towards me, wearing swimsuits.)
Chibi Darien: Hello everyone! And here's what Segasmith thinks about how this summer will bring! Take it Shiina-chan!
Chibi Shiina: Arigatou, Darien-kun! *wink* The Simpsons Movie will be the best of all the films released this summer, and it doesn't need measurements in box-office dollars this summer to be #1...
Chibi Darien: Which means being better than a guy in a red and blue skin-tight suit that changes to black, an ugly green monster (Segasmith: Who is a faker! XD), a bunch of 80's style old school robots bastardized by CGI effects to the standards of the 21st century, a legendary wizard that we all know and love, and a pirate who's last name is Sparrow?
Chibi Shiina: Yep. I mean, why can't it not be better than all those others? It's based on one of the most popular TV shows of all time, but's it's been yearning for a film for years!
Chibi Darien: And I suppose those other movies whose sequels have shown in terms of plot that it's "been there, done that.", I suppose?
Chibi Shiina: Not exactly, *smile* but the creators and writers want to come up with the perfect script that would have the entire fanbase, young and old, buzzing!
Chibi Darien: True true, that's why I'm totally optimistic for the Simpsons movie! Not that I'm knocking on the other films though. =P
Chibi Shiina: XD
Chibi Darien: In other news, gas prices nationwide will hit $3.25 a gallon by Memorial Day...
Chibi Shiina:...then $3.50 by Father's Day...
Chibi Darien:...And then $4 by the 4th of July!
Chibi Shiina: Gee, what will this mean in terms of getting to Anime Expo? (It's an anime convention, largest in the U.S., held in Southern California, in case anyone was wondering.)
Chibi Darien: I guess that means taking a plane rather than driving all the way. Oh wait, prices for tickets will go up too for fuel costs!
Chibi Shiina: And you know what else? Higher gas prices also mean higher prices in food, to cover higher fuel costs from delivery!
Chibi Darien: Oh wow, that's something! The big oil companies are now becoming money otaku, and in turn are making us gasoline otaku! How will this madness end?!
Chibi Shiina: *sad face* We don't know Darien, we don't know.
Chibi Darien: And last but not least, Segasmith predicts that Boston will have temperatures in the triple-digits for at least five days this summer.
Chibi Shiina: Aiiiieeeee! That's hot stuff!
Chibi Darien: Last year was a hot one, and it's only fair to believe that this one will be hotter, if not way hotter.
Chibi Shiina: Global warming is upon us all! Please don't give in to the big oil companies! They'll make us pump more of that carbon dioxide in the air! And I can't imagine potentially getting suburn, in January! *gooey watery big-eyed face.*
Chibi Darien: *shows an evil grin and takes a few ice cubes, then puts them down the back of Shiina's blue swimsuit*
Chibi Shiina: *yelps* AAAHHHH!!! COLDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!! *runs around trying to shake out ice cubes, while Darien laughs off her reaction*
Chibi Shiina: You think this is funny? We'll look at what's really going to be funny! *pulls out an ice cold water balloon* Revenge is mine!
Chibi Darien: *runs away*
The pair play cat and mouse as Shiina sought her target, while yours truly said these following words.
I hope you enjoyed this entry! Have a good night! =D *joins in on their waterballoon chase* |

| Making a video show for Youtube, and ice skating. |
[Jan. 15th, 2007|02:49 am] |
Well, today has gone by fast, though not fast enough, and early this morning I was working on my video I shot last night and parts of today as I thought up a series on Youtube titled 'Metarded' which is a portmanteau of 'me' and 'retarded', and if you don't know what portmanteau means, then (in a funny way, not as an insult) you are a retard. =D
And, on the off-topic note, I happened to go ice skating at my town's municipal rink today, and I learned the hard way that if I were to ever become an NHL player, it's what you must learn in skating before you ever dream of playing, let's put it that way. On the other hand, I have a liking toward girls wearing white figure skates, I am being honest here, it's what defines their gender role, or femininity, such as hockey skates for tomboys, and figure skates for the girly-girls (though we shall never assume females by the type of skates they wear. =D).
Well, time to hit the sack, and I don't know what to do for today, since it's a holiday and my mom won't be back until next weekend now that I have the house to myself! |

| Hey guys! Wii found something! |
[Dec. 27th, 2006|05:46 am] |
Oh yeah, the title of this entry says it all, and needless to say, I got quite a surprise from my mother this Christmas, and here's what I got! (courtesy of my new camera, which my mom also got me!)

I did have a chat with Suki about the Wii regarding their "Wiichuk" controller and how it has to be used to enjoy your game, the so-called "active gaming" of sorts. Not surprisingly, that gave me trouble, but there was something else. Da damn sensor bar! (The sensor bar is used to detect the motion of the controller.) The cursor used in accessing channels of the Wii kept jerking around, and you have to be close to the TV to make it move smoothly. But other than that, though, it was fun using the controller for the 'Wii Sports' games, which came in as a bundle with the console. Best strengths are in Boxing and Baseball, weakness in Bowling. =D
I'll tell you about the other gifts later, but I just wanted to post this as a way of making poor Kasumi-chan jealous that I have something she doesn't! ^^ Hehehe... just kidding!
Here's to the upcoming year of 2007! Hip, hop, HOORAY! |

| Long time no post... |
[Nov. 12th, 2006|05:31 am] |
Well everyone, don't mind me for not posting over the last few weeks, there are several reasons as to my alleged "slacking off".
* Playing my XBox more after getting a new HD-compatible TV with the jacks to hook it up. * Watching some anime via the Tube that I haven't faved until recently (most recently Girls Bravo and Excel Saga, the latter I enjoyed in the first episode. =D) * Looking up articles on Rutgers football, yes, that's right, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, the birthplace of college football, the birthplace of irony and ridicule (i.e. many losing campaigns) that had once rued this program until it had a breakthrough win against Louisville, then the #3 ranked team in the country, to move to 9-0, and first place in the Big East Conference. I've always held respect to the players and coaches of the Big East conference, being a BC fan and all and playing some tough competition, it's just the fans of those schools that went apeshit when BC accepted an invite to the ACC, and they bombarded the team fourms with that crap. So it's not because I hate the Big East for their success of their teams, quite frankly, that's done some good, because the fans that used to trash the message boards are now talking about their own team.
So yes, congrats to Rutgers, the players, the coaches, and the fans WHO DO NOT BECOME CLASSLESS BY BRAGGING THEIR SCHOOL AND LEAGUE TRIUMPHS TO FANS OF EX-LEAGUE MEMBER SCHOOLS AND BASHING THEM!!! That is all. =P
And one last thing, my school is holding a field trip to go to a Boston Celtics game on Wednesday, and I have paid my share ($15), we'll get pizza during the four-hour layoff between the bus rides for home (those going on the trip will stay on campus) and the ride for the game, Celts will be playing the Indiana Pacers, by the way. I expect to have a great time, Go Celts! ^_^
And another thing, I am working on my fanfic, which I have not posted a chapter of since last March, perhaps for all the reasons above and then some, and maybe a bit of writer's block too, which can happen to any writer. Besides, I keep getting fantasies of how it should play out, but I can't find a way to type it out! XD |

| Studying abroad. |
[Oct. 16th, 2006|11:33 pm] |
Ah, well, life seems quiet for me these days, but I have thought about my future, and am considering the idea of when I go to college, I would look to study abroad outside the U.S., I have read articles regarding the great benefits of studying abroad, and it can really help me think about the world!
I am looking into study abroad programs that are established in the following countries and respective cities worldwide.
Australia (Sydney, Melbourne) China (Beijing, Shanghai) Czech Republic (Prague) England (London, Manchester) Germany (Berlin, Munich, Cologne) Ireland (Dublin) Italy (Rome, Naples, Torino) Japan (Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Sapporo) Mexico (Mexico City) New Zealand (Wellington) Portugal (Lisbon) Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg) Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow) South Africa (Johannesburg) South Korea (Seoul) Spain (Barcelona, Madrid) The Netherlands (Amsterdam) Wales (Cardiff)
What I would need to adapt to feel comfortable to the cultures my country and the other nations have in common is a book on various languages and a soccer ball, because everybody around the world loves soccer! =D
Seriously though, I would really like to check any of these destinations out, it would give me a great prespective of international cultures in person! =D |

| There is something I must say! |
[Oct. 6th, 2006|12:31 am] |
Well, just talked to Suki tonight, and we're all pleased with where we want our lives to go. For me, it's Bunker Hill Community College, for some Japanese Language, Computers, Film, Visual Media (as in work on TV/Movies) and Game Design, as for Suki, she has her sights on Sheridan, her goal being an animator, with writing for a secondary career.
Oh god, I have my opportunities to really enjoy life! College is going to be great! Yeah! ^_^ |

| An interesting project at MEC Today. |
[Sep. 18th, 2006|07:58 pm] |
Well, as a post-grad, my teacher named Pete had me look into the facts and figures of the Community College I plan on attending after I'm done at the MEC, that college being Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown. (Which is a bus and train ride from my house.) Then I looked into the courses and programs that the school offered, and got to choose up to five of them. And here is my list.
Computers (My mom has experience in working on computers, so I'd like to follow in her footsteps.) Media (Working a role into setting up or perhaps filming/starring in TV shows, Advertisements, and Informercials. That could help start up a small business for computer work or game design for me.) Film (That'll be fun to do, watching what makes up a good film and a bad film would be something to see, and the way it's done will motivate me into doing an indie film/documentary, particularly on our current generation's ever-changing thoughts about pop culture.) Foreign Language-Japanese (Okay, who thought they did not see this coming? Everybody that knows me knows that I enjoy Japanese culture, and I'm not just talking anime and manga here. XD Besides, learning the language could help me come in handy on my final course!) Games-Game Design (I know I love video games, so why not add it to the top five courses, and with knowledge of the Japanese language, it will help me in being a contributor to Japanese-based game and console companies (Nintendo, Sega, Bandai, Sony, etc.) and if it dosen't work out for me, there's always Microsoft! =D
No no, fear not, I did not actually apply for admission, but Pete just wanted me to write down the courses that I had my intrests in, and I feel it is a good list, plus BHCC is very diverse, so I'll really get to know the people from the various parts of the world and their traditions! Don't expect me to get really into the thoughts of College until at least a year from now, but I am planning for my best move yet!
So, this concludes this post! Peace! ^_^V |

| Recent anime titles on YouTube! |
[Aug. 28th, 2006|01:33 am] |
As the title states, here are the anime titles I am currently watching on the 'Tube!
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya- up to episode 6 (I'm really liking this series now! The last episode was priceless!) This Ugly Yet Beautiful World- through first episode. (Looks like another home run hit for GAINAX, from the start of it, as the mix of comedy, action, drama and sci-fi, blend in with a unique storyline regarding the history of Earth and mass extinctions, and what could happen on Earth today (if the storyline were to be true) and in the future, while also touching on love and relationships. And for those who enjoy fanservice (naked/topless girls) you will not be disappointed! ^_^ Bleach- through episode 2 (Just started watching this as well, and Ichigo Kurosaki is offically my character to look up to when it comes to kicking ass, and having two girls share a liking for him(Rukia and Orihime) strengthens his rep. ^_^ Great deal of dramatic action and some good humor to settle us down. I cannot wait for the premire of the English dub on 9/9/06 on Adult Swim, it should be real good. =D
Well, that's all folks! Peace! |

| My thoughts on the MEC! |
[Aug. 20th, 2006|01:48 am] |
Hello to all the peeps reading! After finishing up my six-week MEC summer program, I found out some facts about some of the staff and students I met there.
The head staff leader of the building I take classes at, named Steve, had a stint as a minor-league ballplayer, and is quite the sports junkie, but here's the catch... He's used to live in Michigan, and is a fan of the major sports teams from Detroit. (Not so sure if he likes the Lions though, considering their piss-poor play and management in recent years. Not sure if he's also a fan of College teams either in MI, particularly the U. of Michigan and Michigan State.)
Another staff member, Lynn, has a Scottish Terrier, and has a nose for the ball! He's played Soccer with some of the students to get some excerise! Someone should call the Scottish National Team and have them check him out, he could be the difference to getting them back to the World Cup in 2010!
And for the students...
One of my co-workers at my vocational job, named Joe, got an autograph from legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, but for some reason was so naive as to let it get messed up!
And last but not least, I have found out that two students at the MEC like anime and manga, one is a boy named Jon Miller, who is currently hooked on Naruto and .hack, and was at Anime Boston last year, cosplaying the titular character of Naruto! And the other, a girl by the name of Elizabeth Chevrette, who's more into shoujo-oreinted anime and manga, moreover, she is of Japanese descent from her mom's side of the family, and that her ancestors were all Shinto priests/priestesses. Very engaging facts right there IMO.
Well, there you have it, as far as I'm concerned, I'll really enjoy all the fun when the regular school year is underway by 9/6! Peace out y'all!
Edit: Wanted to be more clear on the titular character Jon was cosplaying, as in cosplaying Naruto Uzumaki, in case anyone was wondering. =D |

| My thoughts on Haruhi! =D |
[Aug. 8th, 2006|11:22 pm] |
Yes, folks, tonight, Yours Truly decided to watch the anime that everybody seems to have such a commotion about, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. After seeing the second episode, (Chronologically, episode 1) I now see some promise in becoming a good series, which is quite a sharp comedy, and it's good to see a girl like Haruhi take interests into things superhuman, or things unhuman. (Since she doesn't like nomal human beings, heh heh heh.)
It's still too early to tell if I like the series or not, but it's a good start and I know how it ends pairings wise. (HaruhixKyon. =D) Chances are, I could be joining the SOS Brigade!
Well, that's it for this post! Peace out y'all! |

| Long time for a journal entry...can't explain! |
[Jul. 31st, 2006|12:57 am] |
Well, I'm sorry if for taking a long wait from my last entry. Anyways...
I started off at the MEC 3 weeks ago, and I'm enjoying my time there thus far. ^_^ I've done about 4 work days so far, which adds up to around $200. ^_^ I've generally gone on quite a few trips, too, most recently a trip to the Water Country water park last week!
I'm halfway through the summer program with three weeks left, needless to say I'll be happy to be ready for the school year which isn't too long after the end of the summer program.
I haven't done much at my home base as of late though, maybe its 'cuz I've been tired after a long day at school. (yawns.)
Well, that's all for this entry today. ^_^V Peace out! |

| A night to be a meterologist! |
[Jul. 3rd, 2006|11:58 pm] |
Tonight while I was chatting with Kasumi, she was concerned of the weather going on outside. I decided to check out the weather there at http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=WKR, for the weather around Toronto and the surrounding suburbs where she lives, and the storm passed by between 11:40 to 11:50. Of course, her town was spared the worst of the storm, mostly thinks to some prayers I made to her, and a meaning that the name Megumi was Japanese for 'blessing' so Megumi pretty muched saved Kasumi-chan. ^^ LOL
Oh, yeah, my anime LJ community, called anime_east, has now been created, for fans of anime and manga living east of the Mississippi River so if anyone is willing to join, it would be great to do so, pass it on to your friends too!
Well, that's Segasmith, hope you enjoyed this message! ^_^V Peace out! |

| My commencement, and the aftermath! |
[Jun. 15th, 2006|03:28 pm] |
Well, I'm sure you're all wondering what the heck happened to me, but I'll assure you that there was nothing wrong, it was just me being so lazy that I didn't bother posting my journal entry till now!
My commencement ceremonies went through without much of a hitch, if any, despite the rain. I felt like wanting to cry at times during the ride there, and while me and the rest of the senior class were putting on our caps and gowns.
We then went out into the gym and sat in a row of chairs, and as we went through some speeches, I was called to pick up mine. My speech touched on this night, the end of our childhoods, our teachers and a bit of politics. Many people said that my speech was powerful, and I couldn't agree with them more.
We then got our diplomas, and I picked up my Class of '06 T-shirt, getting some autographs from my classmates and teachers, as well gas exchanging a few hugs. We got some dibs on some snacks, and I was able to get some phone numbers on some paper plates. XD
I then said my goodbyes, and me and my mom headed out to McDonald's for dinner, and I got myself 2 double cheeseburgers, no pickles, Large fries, Large Coke, and it was something I enjoyed. ^_^
Well, since my graduation, I really haven't done much actually. XD Generally a lot of time on the Computer, so I really need to get out more. XD
Well, that's all folks! Hope you enjoyed this message! Peace out! ^_^V |
|
|
| In less than 24 hours... |
[Jun. 6th, 2006|08:30 pm] |
He will be on the stage of the school gym...
He will make his speech on the Class of 2006 at Campus Academy...
He and the rest of the 2006 class will get their diplomas...
And celebration by all will be given!
Anyone willing to support me through all this, from an emotional standpoint, will be greatly appreciated. Wish me luck! |

| My weekend, THE SUCK! X_X |
[Jun. 4th, 2006|11:57 pm] |
Please pardon the powerful statement I just made to my journal title, but it does describe how my weekend went, mainly because I was sick! X_X
I woke up Saturday feeling groggy and sneezing a lot, and I was still tired, so my mom gave me some pills, and went back to sleep, not waking up till' 3 in the afternoon. I was on the computer for a few hours, but then felt tired again, so I went back to sleep, woke up at 8 to a bowl of vegetable soup from Mom. Thanked her and went back to sleep at 11.
Sunday, felt a little better, but still took pills to eliminate any remaining signs of my cold, felt more energized, and I was picking up my room a little bit. And I am now typing this message.
Man, I had some good plans this weekend, but at least now that I feel better I can look forward to my big day of graduation this week! Wish me luck! ^^
Peace out y'all! ^_^V |

| My day at Anime Boston '06! |
[May. 28th, 2006|03:42 am] |
Well, today was the day! Let me tell you how my day at Anime Boston went!
6:00 AM: Get out of bed early, goes online at animeboston.com for one last check on how to get to the Sheraton Hotel near Hynes Convention Center to get registered.
7:30 AM: Take a shower, get dressed and groomed up, then have some breakfast.
8:45 AM: Put on my Nike Air Max TD Blade Cross Trainers and I get ready to leave.
8:55 AM: Realizes I need to leave a note on the table to let Mom know where I'm going and how long I'll be gone, so I take care of that.
9:00 AM: Head out the back door.
9:05 AM: Sees a bus going to Wellington Station on other side of Main Street, so I jaywalk and rush to nearest bus stop to get on.
9:10 AM: Get off at Wellington and enter subway system for the Orange Line.
9:15 AM: Boards train for North Station, and connect to the Green Line from there to the Hynes Convention Center stop.
9:25 AM: Gets off at stop and sees a likely attendee to AB '06, a girl dressed in a blue kimono, then boards Green Line C-Cleveland Circle trolley that has a stop at Hynes.
9:35 AM: Rushes off of trolley and out of station as I look for the Sheraton.
9:45 AM: Finds the Registration Area, and realizes how long the line is, knowing that my patience shall be tested.
Between 10:30 and 10:45 AM: Finally gets to the front desk and registers for the badge under the alias "Eagle Washi", and pays the registration fee.
10:50 AM: Snag my badge and a free registration bag, and I was officially in!
11:00 AM: Checks out the Artists' Alley to start things off, the most notable works of anime art being done by the kids at Boston Latin school, which they did quite a good job on, I might add!
11:15 AM: Checks out the heart of the convention, better known as the Dealers Room, which I saw quite a bunch of cosplayers, I saw a few Chii's, a couple of Tohru's, an Inuyasha or two, several Kagomes, maybe an Orihime Inoue from Bleach, some Yuffies from Final Fantasy 7. (And I believe there was an FF7 cosplay group that was there, they were taking photos outside the room.) A bunch of Naruto characters, a well done Kotoko from Chobits, plus a pair of Sumomos, one Duo Maxwell, one f***ed up Evangelion Unit-02, a schoolgirl version of Rei Ayanami, several teens dressed up as members of the Seishun Academy tennis team from the popular Anime/Manga "The Prince of Tennis", one Kasumi from the Dead or Alive video games, plus some Pokemon and some Ash Ketchus on the side, and last but not least, a bunch of Edward Elrics! =P They were the most excited on this day, since they got to see the man who voiced over the small fry. =D
12:00 PM: Heard word that said man will be at the Funimation booth signing autographs, under the identity of one Vic Mignogna. That gets the blood of the Eds pumping, while I just laugh and be happy that I would be in the middle of the line and get my first autograph from an anime voice actor!
12:15 PM: I get my chance to get my autograph, and I tell him just how crazy the Eds are about him, and he nods, telling me that he couldn't agree more, and I reply with a "Keep up the good work!" Then I get my autograph and leave with a smile on my face. XD
12:45 PM: I checked out one of the video programming rooms, which was playing Record of Lodoss War in Japanese. I stick around for an episode, even though I already saw it in the English version on AZN television.
1:10 PM: Decide to check into some manga at the manga library in the Sheraton, reading a few volumes of "Comic Party", "Full Metal Panic!", and "Chobits", but when I was done reading them all, and returning them back, the head of the manga library bitches and tells me I have to check them out first, if I were to come back (which I never did), I gave my apologies, but if he was so jumpy about it, maybe he should put some more awareness into more signs telling us otaku to check the manga out, Dumbass!
2:00 PM: Checked out the Video Games in the Constitution Hall at the Sheraton, and played a few rounds of "Capcom vs. SNK" against some fellow competitors. Won 2 and lost 2. Then decided to check out some DDR, and did rather well, actually, considering I hadn't used the DDR machines in awhile. =P
2:30 PM: Check out the Dealer's room again, and at the Funimation booth was another voice actor, "The Spike Spencer sound-alike" Greg Ayres, wish I was in the line sooner! I would have gotten an autograph from him! XD
2:45 PM: Headed back to the video programming rooms again, this time to check out the supernatural/horror anime Trinity Blood, which has its share of humor with anime fans, as I soon found out. =D
4:15 PM: I look around the Dealers room one more time, trying to find something to buy and take home with me, but I didn't have much money to spare. Then I found the Anime Boston store, and found an "Anime Boston 2004" shirt with the con mascots posing on the back (which I'm wearing right now. =D), and it cost me five bucks, so I paid for it, got my little piece of history, and left.
5:00 PM: Got off at Malden Center on the Orange Line and got a Double Gulp soft drink at 7-Eleven. Then headed home.
6:00 PM: Returned home and put on my new shirt.
Well, so that was it for my experience at my first anime convention, I was a little ill-prepared financially, but I enjoyed the Anime Boston experience. ^_^ That should help me get ready for next year! Anime Boston '07 on April 20-22! Maybe I might even cosplay if I can get to it, perhaps cosplaying as either Shinji from Evangelion in his school uniform, or Hideki from Chobits in his university letterman jacket!
One last note, how do you like my AB mascot avatar? I say A-chan and B-kun look cute together, don't you think? ^^
Well, that's all for this message! Hope you enjoyed it peeps! Peace out! ^_^V |
